Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding what to consider when selecting a padel construction company to bring padel to your club or facility can be challenging.

What do I need to know when selecting a padel court manufacturer?

Warranties

Warranties speak the underlying quality of the padel court and its construction process. Before you consider any other element of your padel court you should make sure the warranties can be measured against the length of time you wish to operate without potential significant costs.

We offer 10 year warranties on court and canopy structures for all components including corrosion. These are the best available in Ireland and should be front of your decision making process. Further these are in line with UK regulations, please see regulations sections below for further detail.

Materials

Padel courts are primarily steel, glass and synthetic grass. Most manufacturer will build to code steel EN 1090, glass EN 12190 and grass UNE 1473010.  These are a minimum requirement but not all you should consider. The galvanisation process, strength of the steel profiles and of the glass are verifying while still complying with the above codes.

As well as meeting the above standards our steel is hot dip galvanised to standards BS 1461. These are british standards and are most appropriate to our similar climate. Our steel profile thickness is 3mm - 6mm for our court, lots of manufacturers will use 2mm - 3mm profiles as it’s cheaper. Thicker profiles lead to a stronger, more durable court, with less chance of glass breakage. Our courts come with 12mm tempered glass as standard, this is strongest and most durable option on the market. Other manufacturer will use 10mm glass and non tempered glass products.

Design

The design and aesthetics of your padel court are important. While secondary to the quality considerations the look and feel of your padel court must be right for you.

We offer an extensive range of padel courts and our team of engineers will make a bespoke product that is right for you. Our manufacturer has been making canopies for over 40 years and produces 30 padel courts a day. They are fast becoming the most popular padel court in the world, particularity for canopy/ court combinations and in wet climates.

Regulations

Padel court construction in Ireland is currently unregulated. The Sports And Play Construction Association (SAPCA) is a UK guide on building padel courts. We believe meeting this guidance is essential due to our similar climate and the fact is has been created by the appropriate people, engineers.  This document is open source information you can find online. We note the most important element is the requirement for a 10 year warranty on all court structural components (including corrosion).

We have been through a thorough manufacturer selection process and turned down agreements from some of the largest padel manufacturers in the world, simply because our engineers have deemed them inappropriate for our climate and they do not meet SAPCA guidance. Our goal is to be a long term success and having courts that meet the regulations that could and should be in place in the future is paramount.

Certifications

The certification you receive are key to both understand the product you are buying and ensuring your engineer has all the correct information they need to ensure your padel courts and canopy meet all building requirements and ensure the structural, wind, rain, light spillage and other factors are all considered for your location.  Uneven surface, blinding lights and glass breaking has been demonstrated in Ireland as people underappreciated the importance of the below.

As standard we provide the following and consider a minimum requirement an Engineer technical report including all wind, snow load, weight and pressure points, Lighting design, Certificate of materials manufactured, Electrical certification, Installation quality certification, Fire material certificates for canopy solution.

What do I need to know when selecting a padel court contractor?

Project Management

Delivering a successful padel  project is a complicated process involving manufacturing, engineering, building, electrics and various other professional services. Understanding the end to end process, being able to coordinate and communicate everything to ensure a timely, high quality and cost effective project is essential.

Our team includes 15 years project management experience and is currently delivering padel projects in Ireland. We are the first Irish based company to deliver a padel court in Ireland are delivering the first purpose built indoor padel club with canopy and courts in Q2 2024, the project has begun! We provide our customers with a project plan and regular communication tailored to their requirements.

Engineer Services

Each padel court is over 4 tones of glass and steel. Needless to say an engineer is the most important person you will engage to fully mitigate all the risks associated with such a heavy structure being used for sports.

We combine our manufacturer engineerings services with a local engineer to assure that both the product and location have been fully assessed. We consider some local engineering services a minimum requirement for us to build, manufacture and install a padel court. You can hire this service directly or work with our preferred service provider.

Design Expertise

The design of your padel court is key, understanding the game and the health and safety of players. One example of what not to do can currently be seen in a Dublin hotel. The courts are in a busy car park with no safety barriers, the courts have large steps presenting risk of player injury and match balls regularly are lost in an adjacent wooded area or are hit onto a busy public road.

We have an accumulated over 20 years padel experience playing in Ireland around Europe. We understand the real area require for padel courts, and offer real solutions for constructing a success padel court within various locations and sites. We can work with your architect.

Certification

The certification you receive as part of the building process should be provided by the appropriate professional service provider such as an Architect, Engineer, Fire Officer, Electrician etc. As the local groundworks and  Irish regulations play such an important role it is essential to understand all the requirements for padel courts and canopies construction.

We understand all requirements to meet Irish building regulations and can project manage these services or advise on requirements.

Contract

The scope of your service contract is key to understand. There are numerous models of delivering a padel court in Ireland. Some people are agents and some project manage without a full contract with one party.

We are a traditional contractor and provide a service contract.  This contract protects you for the delivery of a quality product (and protects us to make sure we are paid!). We believe this gives our customers piece of mind that they will be dealing with one company based in Ireland now and into the future.
